We’ve been working on a brand new API for Pingdom and would now like to work together with a selection of beta testers to make sure it’s the best it can be before we release it into the wild.
This new API is part of a wave of backend development we’re doing here at Pingdom that will be the basis for taking our uptime monitoring service to new heights. We’re growing fast and have recently added several really talented developers to our team, and another hiring spree is coming up in a week or two for seven new positions. You will see a lot happening with Pingdom over the coming year.
The kind of beta testers we’re looking for
We aim to make this a truly useful, flexible API. Many of you web developers out there will be happy to hear that the new API is RESTful and uses JSON. It also has a lot more functionality than our old one.
We will only accept a relatively small number of beta testers at this stage, so we have limited our criteria somewhat:
- You should already have a Pingdom account and be familiar with our service.
- You can put our API to good use. We aren’t necessarily asking for large projects, but you should at least have an idea of what kind of project you would like use the API for.
This is the kind of feedback we will be looking for from you:
- Suggestions for improvements.
- Functions you feel are missing.
- Reporting problems or bugs.
This is a great opportunity for you to help make sure we give you all just the kind of API you want.
How to apply
To apply, email beta@pingdom.com with “API” in the subject.
In the email, please tell us about yourself and what you would like to accomplish with the API. This will make it easier for us to see if you’re a good fit for this beta. We will of course provide all beta testers with API documentation, but if you have other questions, please let us know.
We look forward to hearing from you!
