“Gotta catch ‘em all!” goes the famous phrase and here at Pingdom we’re no exception to the Pokémon Go addiction that is sweeping the world. Except that sometimes we just can’t catch them all because the Pokémon Go servers go down. With their recent launch in over 26 countries, their servers have really been feeling the strain as over 30 million users have joined the hunt to catch all 151 of the cute and colorful critters.
We know from personal experience that right now there are few things in life as frustrating as taking your freshly charged phone out on a hunt only to find that the servers are down with no warning.
Luckily for us (and for you), those days are finally over! You can set up an uptime check from your Pingdom dashboard to check whether Pokémon Go is a go (pun intended).
Simply log in to your dashboard, click ‘Add uptime check’ in the top right-hand corner and set the check to monitor the url: https://pgorelease.nianticlabs.com/plfe/.
Your uptime check will test that URL every minute and notify you the moment Pokémon Go’s servers go down.
Also, make sure you’ve got your alerts set up in your Pingdom dashboard and receive notifications about the status of their servers direct to your phone! That way, you can preserve your battery life (and sanity) for when the hunt really is on.
If you haven’t created your Pingdom account yet, you’re in luck – simply click here to start your 14-day free trial and never miss a beat when your site – or Pokémon Go is down.
