GIGRIB is our free, distributed uptime monitoring network. One of the unique aspects of GIGRIB is that its monitoring network is made up entirely of its users. In return, these users get to add five sites each to be monitored by the network. Another unique aspect is that all the uptime data for all the monitored sites is freely and publicly available at the GIGRIB website. This last point is what makes GIGRIB such a good resource not only for its members, but for the whole Internet community.
The already strong popularity of GIGRIB is gathering momentum. We have received a lot of praise, both from our users and from visitors to the GIGRIB website. Not only that; the press is also starting to discover GIGRIB, which has been referred to in articles on CNET News.com, The Register, and many others.
The GIGRIB website has so far been located at uptime.ipwalk.com, but will soon move to uptime.pingdom.com. Note that Pingdom is a part of Ipwalk, so it’s not changing owners; just location. The reason for the move is that Pingdom is a better match for GIGRIB due to the strong focus on uptime monitoring.

You will notice that the website has a new design, to blend in better with Pingdom. We have also made the sign-up process easier. Signing up and installing GIGRIB on your computer is now easier and faster than ever before.
Our existing users will of course be able to continue using GIGRIB as they always have. You don’t need to change anything.
Coming up…
We have several cool things in the pipeline for GIGRIB. One of the things we are really excited about is that we will be adding Web Services. This way external sites and applications will be able to use GIGRIB data in interesting new ways we probably never could have thought about. We will tell you more about this at a later date.
If you have any feedback or questions about GIGRIB, please let us know by emailing gigrib AT pingdom DOT com.
