Photo of Melvin E. Thompson, Governor[edit]
I've got much better pictures of my grandfather. How do I change the current introduction photo? Newton61 (talk) 22:37, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
@Newton61: I knew M.E. Thompson, Jr in Valdosta, in the bridge club. We would like to have the photo. There is an issue with the copyright. If you are the copyright holder, or if it is in the public domain, you can upload it to WikimediaCommons.org or to Wikipedia.org. If neither of those hold, I think there are two alternatives: 1. Upload it to Wikipedia.org and claim that it is a fair use for the article about him 2. If someone else owns the copyright, there is a release form that they can sign, allowing anyone to use it, and then it can be uploaded to WikimediaCommons. Getting this release filled out and signed can be a hassle. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:50, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
And once it is uploaded to either of those, it is easy to edit the article to use the new photo. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:52, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- That was my father. He was a pretty good bridge player. I have photos of all sorts. Most came from the family. I will look into getting a better picture of him. The current one is not good quality. Tarkenton Thompson. Newton61 (talk) 00:07, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
@Newton61: Yes, I know the current is not good. Your father was the highest-ranked bridge player in Valdosta when I was playing there, 1986-1994. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:12, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- That's news to me, and very cool. I knew he was very good, as he traveled a fair amount playing in tournaments. Mom didn't like it so much. Dad was a very smart man. Flattered for him to hear this. Newton61 (talk) 00:25, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:KeresFischer1959BledCT.jpg[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:KeresFischer1959BledCT.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:13, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
