My first reaction was “my God, that will last forever”! About that time, file sharing became a thing, and I filled up that drive in less than a year.

Then I installed a 100 gig drive (around 2001) and thought I was set for life.

Now my two terabyte drive is half filled.

Yowsaw!

We became HOARDERS of data.

I mean “Really!” , most of our hard drives contain clutter, old junk and files we don’t even remember we had. I just went through mine and found some interesting memories, old music, unknown photos, letters….
And at work, it is the same old story… Lots of old and historical data that could be archived somewhere, maybe using the cheapest drives.
But tapes (floppy) are more expensive than hard drives. And people became lazy.

So we story everything online.

Do we need that much data, really?

As I understand it the disk speed have increased 4,5x but I cant find any sources that clarifies that….
