capitalism and consumerism. people want to have (and will pay for) lots of shiny little icons with cool for that ‘feeling of ownership’. its an admission on the part of apple, microsoft that their OS is really just a gateway (or gatekeeper) to third party products. so in fact, the OS is not ‘task oriented’, or even ‘object oriented’, but ‘consumption oriented’. it makes me sick. linux 4 ever.

Hmm, app stores are actually the modern linux repositories. I think that if Apple get rid of their monopoly and a couple of competing, user driven, cross platform (why not?) stores opens this thing might actually be for the better.

Do they sound ignorant or what?

So, Final Cut Pro isn’t “powerful” enough for them? Photoshop Elements? OS X itself? They’re all on the Mac App Store. (And Mac users have been shortening the term “applications” to “apps” for years before the original iPhone was announced, let alone before the App Store existed.)
