It was a
512Kb modem, than upgraded to 3Mb DSL in 1998(I really don’t remember
exactly).  and free upgraded to 6MB ADSL at around 2002???, free
upgraded to 100Mb VDSL around 2008(big jumb, and it was free OMFG). I
have been paying the same price @ 19 USD since 1998. No price increased,
disregarding all the inflation around the world. That being said, the
ISPs are pretty aggressive here in HK. They  were offering 1000Mb Fiber in 2011, $25-$35 USD a month, depending on which ISP you choose.

I have been having 100Mb VDSL line for a few years already. The company wanted to upgrade me to Fiber free of charge a while back, but I refused. Because they needed to do some Fiber wiring in my home, and I thought that would be ugly as hell. I am happy with what I am having.
And I am paying around $19 USD a month.
